What Is Mindfulness and How Can It Benefit You?

Mindfulness is developed by purposefully paying attention in a non-judgmental way to your experience of your body, your mind and the world around you. Mindfulness is about being awake and aware and living in the present moment, rather than dwelling on the past or anticipating the future. 

Staying in touch with the present in this way, from one moment to the next, may lead you to experience yourself differently, perhaps feeling less stuck, or realising more strength, balance, and confidence in yourself. A growing body of evidence is highlighting the many physical and psychological health benefits of this practice.

Mindfulness is taught through meditation skills which include bringing attention to the breath and the body during stillness and/or movement.

We currently have a wonderful mindfulness class on offer here at Equilibrium:

KATRINA'S MORNING MEDITATION

We encourage you to join Katrina Kidson every Monday and Friday morning for meditation from 7:30am - 8:00am. It's a perfect opportunity to center yourself for the day ahead. Meditation provides a sense of calm, peace and balance to our hectic lives. It helps you to control your thoughts, reduce stress and increases your energy. Katrina's classes consist of 10 minutes guided mediation and 10 minutes of silent meditation. Classes take place in our very calm and tranquil Momentum Gallery and entry is by koha.

Katrina's morning meditation classes for 2017 will start Monday 16th and Friday 20th of January.
